Domaine de la Fruitiere, AC Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur Lie, 2004

A refreshing white from Loire Valley
Her pale lemon appearance suggesting that she is the best mate for summer
Medium body with green apple, grapefruit, white flower and a hint of honey nose, but the yeasty character that should be found was undetected
On palate, almost the same as the nose, with addition of lime
An absolute summer wine!

Sopexa @ Yung Kee Restaurant

Lucien Albrecht, AC Cremant d’Alsace, Brut, NV

Domaine Vincent Sauvestre, AC Chablis 2003

Michel Lynch Sauvignon Blanc, AC Bordeaux 2004

Michel Lynch Cabernet Sauvignon, AC Bordeaux 2001

Delas Saint-Esprit, AC Cotes-du Rhone 2004

Le Dauphon de Guiraud, AC Sauternes 2002

A dinner organized by Sopexa and Park’n Shop as prizes of Lucky Draw held in May. The menu was not tailor-made to match with the wine on the night, surely this would be the room for improvement in future. The 6 wines for the dinner are all available in Park’n shop, and the tasting notes from my memory (since I lost the written tasting notes!) are as following:

Lucien Albrecht, AC Cremant d’Alsace, Brut, NV
A nice sparkling wine from Alsace which is full of apple and some citrus nose and taste, a refreshing start for all occasions.

Domaine Vincent Sauvestre, AC Chablis 2003
This is a nice wine “if” you like water. The acidity of Chablis cannot be located in this wine, which may be the bottle variation / problem. But I would not dare to try another bottle “if” I have to pay it myself.

Michel Lynch Sauvignon Blanc, AC Bordeaux 2004
Lynch Bages’ product for the low-end market. New world style with medium fruitiness and acidity, but lack of the grassiness of traditional Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc.

Michel Lynch Cabernet Sauvignon, AC Bordeaux 2001
Another product from Jean-Michel Cazes, owner of Lynch Bages. The black fruit (blackcurrant) nose was quite attractive, very typical economic Bordeaux wine. Ideal daily table wine if you can accept the rough tannin in the wine.

Delas Saint-Esprit, AC Cotes-du Rhone 2004
Personally I always have a feeling that wine from Rhone will be rather rough, and so does this one. Luckily the adequate red fruit taste of the wine made her an acceptable table wine.

Le Dauphon de Guiraud, AC Sauternes 2002
The gold / amber color of the wine was very attractive. The nose of dried fruit and honey and smoothness in mouth made the wine a superb one in the beginning. The problem was that she was severely lack of acidity, making her rather unbalanced and the sweetness in mouth disappear quickly after you swallow her.

Actually the atmosphere of the dinner was good, as there were a number of game for distributing presents to participants. I hope there will be chance for me to join again next year – I have to win the Lucky Draw again!
